Wow!! is what I said when I entered this restaurant.! So vibrant! Rightly called Flechazo. Flechazo is a Spanish word for “love at first sight”, so it was here. On the main road in Marathalli, Flechazo is an awesome buffet place, right what you need for a good meal especially for group outings and team outings. The ambience is so appealing and dazzling and full of great energy.
I was here with a bunch of friends for dinner, not my treat *wink*. As I went around the place, I continued to get more amazed at the counters and variety Flechazo is serving. My first thought was about how expensive the buffet would be to have such a diversity of tastes.! On top of that, I went there during the seafood festival. But since I am not paying… I will get to that later.
One corner had the food shots on a conveyor belt sort of thing. A bite-sized food full of flavours. We had sushi, dim sums, Pani puri and chats in the food shots. Here is a small clip of the same.
Then very interestingly, there was a cycle with fried anchovy with chat masala and lemon. I suppose this is a traditional/nostalgic memory from Tamil Nadu? Please correct me if I am wrong here.
I glanced at the Bog O or the “make your own Pizza and Pasta” counter. Live counters of Pizza and Pasta, where you can have custom pizzas and pasta or make your own. It was fun seeing people in groups enjoying doing the same and clicking pictures in pretty Apron. I skipped that part to move on to food too quickly. I loved the Pastas here, Pizzas not so much.
Then, There was a Captain’s Shack on the open side of the restaurant. A small seafood special shack with a variety of steamed and grilled prawns, squids, fish and octopus with Shrimp and Veg Nasi Goreng. Nasi Goreng is a variety of Indonesian fried rice. I don’t have a lot of seafood generally, but I loved the fish and prawns here. Prawn Nasi Goreng was exceptionally good and very flavourful.
Now let’s start with starters. As you move to your table, there are starters served on the table. This menu is extensive. Fried Pita with various dips was delicious. To add to it, Crispy corn and Lotus stem, cinnamon Pineapple, Thai dumplings, Sultani Paneer tikka, saucy Asian Potatoes, Veg bell pepper Cheese Roll, Sesame Grilled Mushroom and Waterchestnut and corn bullets are just the veg starters. Almost everything was delicious.
We had Malaysian Shark cakes(yummy), Multani Chicken Wings, Devilled Xia, Afghani Ghost Seekh Kebab, Tandoori crabs and wok tossed chicken with Chillies amongst the non-veg starters.
After eating so much I barely had enough in me to look at the main course, but I had a little bit here. There were Veg and Non-veg soups, a variety of salads, lots of veg and non-veg curries and biryanis. Completely packed with Mediterranean, Indian and Asian flavours. The seafood special here was Turkish Cold Snapper cooked in Mediterranean style.
I was nothing short of amazed at the heterogeneity in flavours and ambience here when I moved to desserts. Take a moment and a deep breath for a second. Just the desert menu was unrestricted in itself. From sea blue pastry to orange slice (this was really good), there were Chocolate Lollipops, Fruit custard (I loved this one), Brownie, Macaroons, Jalebi, Gulab Jamun, Rajasthani Kheech, Fresh cut fruits and Gajar ka halwa. Do you feel something is still missing? Yes, Ice cream!!! Six flavours of instant ice cream prepared with Liquid Nitrogen, right in front of your eyes. Here is a small video of Pan ice cream prepared on the spot.
As I mentioned, my first thought was about how expensive the buffet would be to have such a boundless flavours. I was really surprised to know the price of buffet ranges from 450-700 depending on a weekday and Lunch/Dinner and Veg or Non-veg. The place is big enough to have a lot of team outings and still not feel crowded. And for a big place like this, service is very prompt. Servers are very polite and attentive.
I love that Bangalore has places which are bold enough to experiment with flavours and cuisines and follow through on it. Flechazo has something for everyone and is a great pick for a happy memorable meal.
My rating 4 for food and 4.5 for the experience!
Happy Hogging!
