Bangalore has ample amount of Themed pubs and cafes. I love that about this city, every other cafe has something new to offer. One interesting addition to the family is, the Chug garage bar and this one are for bikers especially.
Completely surrounded by biker artefacts as decorative, this pub has amazing garage bar type of setting. The entertainment is simple here in the form of stand-up comedy, band performances, and DJ. A very casual setting for hanging out in groups.
Located near Hebbal, it is the perfect location for people who love to drive up to places (I know this kind is rare in Bangalore) but on your way to long bike rides, this can be a one-stop chugging destination. I was at the Chug, within a month of its opening as a part of FBAB meetup. And boy, we ended up having a great time.
My experience of Chug was amazing, especially the drinks. The bar is a canvas for creativity here. Apart from the good old fashioned cocktails, there were a lot of drinks with a beautiful concoction of Indian spices with fruits We had drinks smoked with rosemary and cinnamon. There were black pepper infused drinks. Drinks with coconut and sangria with cinnamon. Something very refreshing and worth trying.
Check smoked cocktails here.
The food wasn’t far behind the awesome bar here. We started with thick creamy mushroom and chicken man chow soup, with of which were delicious. I really liked crispy American corn and veg nachos amongst veg starters. Amongst non-vegetarian counterparts, the hits were green chilly beef and curry leaves black pepper chicken, but a special shout out to bacon wrapped prawns.
Moving on to the main course, I like cauliflower mac and cheese, wild mushroom risotto and eggplant parmigiana in vegetarian menu. Pan seared Basa fish was the highlight among the non-vegetarian main course items.
I did not like the bruschetta and pizzas because the bread was a little too dry. A softer bread/crust would have sone wonders here.
Desserts were interesting as well. But what stood out for us was the checked cake and brownie with chocolate sauce.
Overall, this pub has a very nice and comforting ambience with good food and delicious drinks. The owner is very enthusiastic about new bands performing, and overall giving newcomers a chance. A great new addition to Bangalore pub scene.
My rating 4.!
Happy Hogging!
